THE ELEMENTARY LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER IS PROUD TO HONOR OUR VETERANS AT OUR BREAKFAST ON NOVEMBER 10TH.
Welcome to Cleveland Hill Elementary's busy Library Media Center (LMC), staffed by Mrs. Kelly, a professional Library Media Specialist, and Mrs. Ruminski, a certified Teacher Assistant.
The only rule in the LMC students are expected to know is respect.
Hands-on learning is frequently modeled and encouraged. It is believed that education occurs best when it is taught in a way for students to understand why and how their learning will relate to their lives, long after they graduate from Cleveland Hill.
From 8:10 a.m. to 3:10 p.m., the LMC is open for students to look for and borrow new books, use the library's computers to take Accelerated Reader quizzes, independent research, and class instruction.
Kindergarten through fifth grade students attend one, forty minute library/media class every six days for instruction. After their lesson, they select new books. There is also an opportunity to exchange books between scheduled classes. Teacher permission will enable students to visit the library during the day.
One of our goals in the LMC, is to foster a love of reading for pleasure as well as reading for information and research. In order to accomplish this, students are exposed to quality literature, access to the Internet, on-line databases, our popular Accelerated Reader program and a variety of print resources such as encyclopedias, almanacs, and atlases. Two of our subscription databases appear in the links to the left. Please feel free to use them at home. You will need a login and password which may be obtained from the LMC.
Please return often to view additional information. Thank you for visiting.
